Support
Email hello@danceseekers.com and you'll get an answer. If it's about a specific event, send the link - it saves a round trip.
Most of what people write in about is below, with the fix.
The sign-in code never arrived
Codes are sent to the address you typed, so the first thing to check is a typo, then your spam folder. Codes expire, so if you've been sitting on the screen a while, ask for a new one rather than typing the old one. If two codes are in your inbox, the newest is the only one that works.
Still nothing? Email us from the address you're trying to use and we'll sort it out directly.
Check-in says I'm not at the venue
Check-in confirms you're really there by taking one location reading when you tap. Indoors - especially in a basement or a big concrete room - phones can place you a block or two off, and that's usually what happened.
Scan the code at the door instead. There's a check-in code at the event; scanning it works regardless of what GPS thinks, and it counts exactly the same. If the venue doesn't have a code up, ask the organizer to mark you present - they can do it from their own dashboard.
I don't want to share my location
Then don't. Decline the permission and the app still works: you can browse the catalog, search any city by name, and check in by scanning the code at the door. The only thing you lose is “what's near me” sorting itself out automatically.
The app never reads your location in the background - only while you're looking at what's nearby, or in the moment you tap to check in. More detail on the privacy page.
My ticket won't open at the door
Tickets are stored on your device so they work with no signal - venues are exactly where signal dies. Open the app before you get to the door, while you still have a connection, and the ticket will be there when you need it.
If a ticket is missing entirely, it was probably bought on a different email than the one you're signed in with. Check your confirmation email for which address it went to.
Notifications
We ask once, and only after you've checked in somewhere. If you said no and changed your mind, turn them on in your phone's Settings under Dance Seekers - the app can't ask a second time.
We send two things: a reward getting close, and what's on at the places you already dance. Nothing else.
Deleting your account
In the app: You → Account settings → Delete account. It takes effect immediately, removes your check-in history, saved nights and profile, and needs no approval from us.
If you only ever used the website, email hello@danceseekers.com and we remove your record within 7 days.
An event is wrong, cancelled, or missing
Much of the catalog is gathered from organizers' own public calendars, so details do drift. Tell us and we'll fix it:
- Something's wrong on a listing - report an update
- A dance we don't have - submit an event
I run the event - this is my listing
Claim it and you can edit it yourself, keep it accurate, and sell tickets through it if you want to.
- Claim a listing that's already here
- For organizers - what you get once you have
Reporting someone
Social dancing only works if the room feels safe. If someone on Dance Seekers has behaved in a way that doesn't belong there, email hello@danceseekers.com with what happened. We read those first, we don't need you to prove anything to be taken seriously, and we won't pass your name to the person you're reporting.
