Dance nights should be easy to find.
Dance Seekers is a free map of social dance. We started in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and now list nights across the U.S., Canada and beyond.
Our founder, Manuel Avila, runs West Michigan Latin Dance in Grand Rapids. He kept meeting dancers who would have come to a night if they had known it was on.
Most social dance nights get posted in a Facebook group or an Instagram story that is gone the next day. If you already know the scene, you hear about them. If you just moved to town or you are visiting, you miss them.
So we put the nights on a map. Each dot is a night, colored by its dance style, and you can filter the map to the style you dance.
Each night has a page that answers what people ask before a first visit: do you need a partner, is there a beginner lesson, what is the cover, where do you park. When we don't know an answer, the page says so.
Each listing also shows where the details came from and the date we last checked them. If something is wrong, anyone can send a correction, and we update the listing.
We list small nights next to big ones. A monthly contra dance in a church basement gets the same page as a salsa congress.
Organizers can claim a night we found and fix the details. They can also run their nights on Dance Command, our tool for organizers, and those nights show up here and in the Dance Seekers app.
In the app you can follow the organizers, instructors and DJs you like. When one of them is on a new night near you, we tell you, at most once a day.
This month the map lists 3,317 dance nights in 279 cities.
Free on both sides
Dancers don't pay to search the map. Organizers don't pay to be listed, and nobody can pay to move a night up the list. If we ever offer paid promotion, it will always be labeled and will never change the normal order.
