Going for the first time
Most social dance nights welcome beginners. Lessons before the social are common, partner rotation during class is the norm, and you don't need to bring anyone with you. Wear smooth-soled shoes and bring water.
Ask politely, thank your partner after the song. If you're new, watch one or two dances first to read the room.
